Bloggerific

Hello all!

So I've decided to try to upkeep a blog on a regular basis. It will be fun to be able to share pieces of my world with friends and loved ones around z country and give you a peek into my world! I hope to post pictures, eventful happenings, points of interests, etc.
There are a couple posts from last year that I'll leave up for the heck of it.

Many of you know my current abode and work situation, but for those that I haven't had the privalege of connecting with recently, I'm living in Bellingham, WA, a beautiful town and a progressive community nestled on the bay of Puget Sound. It's located about 1.5 hours north of Seattle, 1 hour south of Vancouver, B.C. and about 20 minutes from the Canadian border.

I'm currently interning with the City of Bellingham through AmeriCorps as an environmental educator. I work right on the bay at an Environmental Learning Center. Much of what I do is create/lead presentations and field trips for school groups, and the position is so fluid-- my journalism background comes in handy as I often get a chance to create publications for the parks and rec dept. I've also spent quite a bit of time coordinating pilot recycling efforts at various venues throughout the area(a sports stadium, public parks, downtown).

The experience I've gained through my AmeriCorps internships has been extremely valuable . It's very rewarding and, I feel, important work. My job is ending in July, but I just received a job offer with the nonprofit One Change, working as the Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator with an energy campaign called Project Porchlight. It's a contract position, but also a great opportunity for me!

Aspects of my life have inevitably shifted upon U-hauling across the country nearly 2 years ago-- and it's great. I'm happy here. I've got a sweet partner, Justin, who chased me up here from Texas last year :) We run around on mini adventures together. Otherwise, lately I've been hiking a lot, always biking around town (no car anymore), I sing in a Renaissance choir, am learning to garden, and really getting into cooking, so hopefully I'll post some tasty recipes here too!

Hope you are well as you read this. Au revoir for now!

Hey Sara,

It's gratifying to read tell of your continuing adventures in cold and rainy places--with only your bright smile and wicked wit to wend you through the tangled banks of (y)our post-post-modern existence.

A saint terrer still, ain't ya?

(You better be.)

Kurt
